How I get Loose Beachy Waves, using the GHD IV Professional Styler

Hey ladies! Today's blog post is all about the new GHD IV Professional Styler, where I will be reviewing this for you all, plus share a tutorial on how I create loose beachy waves using this baby! I was kindly sent this to me for review purposes, and as always, I will be sharing my 100% honest opinion about this product :)

Now let me just start off with what this product is all about. It's a limited edition GHD IV Professional Styler which comes in 3 colours - mint, violet and lemon. I chose the violet colour, as it seems to suit my personality more! Now, these stylers are from the Candy Collection by GHD, and are inspired by the old retro sweet shops, combined with funky new shades from the catwalk. The stylers all have Black Ceramic plates with ceramic technology, leaving your hair protected from heat damage, as well allowing you to style your hair a lot easier. It also has a rounded shaped barrel, that allows you to curl your hair with a natural look, similar to that of a curling iron.

Now to use this, it's really quite simple. It has an on/off switch, with an LED light placed right next to it. When you switch it on, the LED light will turn a steady orange colour, which will take a few seconds to heat up (depending on your power source). This is to simply allow for the styler to heat up. When it's ready, the LED light will start blinking, alerting you to the fact the styler has heated up to its full capacity. Now one thing about this styler that may not be appealing to everyone is that it has no heat settings. It is controlled by turning the switch on/off - that's it. Most GHD's heat up to 200-220 degrees, which is a safe heat setting for your hair, and hot enough to achieve pin straight hair, or any type of curl. If you like the ability to control the heat settings - you won't find it in this styler.

The cool thing about this also, is that this styler can allow you to create multiple looks - whether it's to get pin straight hair, soft beachy waves, or curly sue type curls - it can do it all! I think it's due to the size of the styler. It's sleek, and compact, and for someone with thick hair like mine, it's quite easy to straighten my whole head of hair with, and create small or large curls depending on my mood.

Now compared to the other GHD Straightners in their range, I noticed that this straightner had a swivel cord attached, meaning that no matter what direction you place your styler, the cord is not going to get tangled up as you move, since it will swivel and turn in whichever direction you will move - how groovy is that?!

Now, there are couple of things I noticed which should be brought to your attention. This is made out of glossy, sturdy plastic material, which means that when you first use this styler, it may emit a "burning plastic" type of smell. It was only noticeable to me after the first couple of times of using it, but has since disappeared as I now use this on a daily basis as my main GHD tool (I also own GHD straightner, which has larger ceramic plates). Another thing to be aware of is to avoid touching the barrel when styling your hair, as this part of the styler gets quite hot (due to the material), so I would advise treating it as if it were a curling iron in this instance, so you don't burn yourself.

Overall, I have to say in complete honesty that I am impressed with the GHD Professional Styler. Really impressed. It not only gives you the same professional style as a salon would, but it gives you the ability to create whatever style you choose, because it's that versatile. I have been playing around with it for almost a week now, and have loved the different hair styles I have been playing around with, although my favourite style is creating loose, messy, beachy waves. It's so quick and simple, and doesn't have to be perfect! Here's a tutorial below, on how I create that, plus also see the GHD Professional Styler in action!

So if you're interested in picking up one of these for yourselves, you can check out their website right here.  The Professional Stylers currently retail for $249AU, and considering the amount of styles you can create - it's definitely worth it!

If you're not so into this particular styler, but want to check out their other products, definitely check out the GHD website where they have a wide variety of hair straighteners/stylers to choose from.

And if you would like to see how to create celebrity inspired hair styles, I suggest you check out this page to find out how!

Everyday Makeup & Glowing Foundation Routine (For Dry Skin)

Hello, peeps of the blogosphere! I finally filmed a new video, and it's one that has been requested on many occasions through comments, and the like. So here it is, my "Everyday Makeup & Glowing Foundation Routine (For Dry Skin)".

It's important to note that my skin type is usually normal to dry, so the makeup products that I use, really helps keep my skin looking healthy and glowing. And of course, we all have our preferred method of makeup application, and this is just the way I go about my routine!

foundationroutine
The following products are shown in order of appearance in the video:

Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer for Very Dry Skin
- Really helps hydrate my skin, and allows my makeup to adhere to any makeup application.
- Perfect for day and night.

Shiseido Refining Makeup Primer
- This has sort of an oily consistency, but surprisingly has a matte finish. It blends well, and quickly, and I find it doesn't dry out my skin, and creates a nice base for my foundation.

1Skin Solution Lip Balm in Vanilla
- I love this love balm, as it really conditions my lips, and I always apply it before I put on any lipstick or lipgloss. It has a slight Vanilla scent to it, which is always pleasant.

NARS Orgasm Illuminator
- I love applying this, especially before Foundation, as it adds such a beautiful glow underneath Foundation, and warms up my complexion. It has a beautiful dewy finish, that just gives your overall face a natural glow. It can pretty much be worn as is, although, I do like extra coverage, so this does act like a base.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Light
- If you have dry skin, this is a great companion to add to your makeup stash, as this concealer does not crease, therefore making you look older than you really are! It glides on really smoothly, and I find it really brightens the under eye area, making you look really awake.

DiorSkin Nude Foundation in shade 030
- My "go-to" foundation during Autumn/Winter, as this is not only Hydrating, it also has SPF 15, which gives you a bit protection against any harsh elements.

Bobbi Brown Sheer Pressed Powder in Warm Natural
- My all time favourite Powder, as it's not heavy on the skin, therefore allowing it to breathe as well as not cake up on you during the day. Since I have dry skin, and like to have a bit of a glowing/dewy look going on, I only use a light hand when applying this, mainly to act as a barrier for bronzer and blush application (you don't want streaks of brown mixing in with your foundation, do you?!)

Essence Eyeshadow Base
- This eyeshadow base has worked well for so far during these cooler months. I have found my eye makeup to last ALL day after using this. Not even kidding. It does't leave your eyelids feeling oily, nor cakey, and I have found the eyeshadows to stay put throughout the day. I highly suggest you pick up one of these (I believe they're less than $5! What a steal!).

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Black/Brown
- I've been using this for ages, and ages. It's my favourite brow product, and so easy to manoeuvre. If any mistakes are made (like WAY to thick lines), I can easily erase them.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
-  One of my favourite Neutral Palettes, it comes in a handy travel size, so you can literally pop this in your purse and away you go. This palette features all Matte shades, and very flattering on all skin types and colours. These also last ALL day - fantastic quality, and bang for your buck.

Bourjois Felt-Tip Eyeliner in II Noir
- This is an easy to use liner, and literally looks like a felt-tip pen, except it obviously isn't! The colour pigmentation is generous, and is easy to line your top lash line with. Best way to use this is to draw small strokes, as I have found it doesn't glide all that smoothly if you try to draw one continuous line. Other than that, I am overly impressed with the staying power of this. The colour fades a little (which is normal), although it does not budge, even after a typical 8 hour day of wearing it.

Maybelline One by One Volum' Express in Brownish Black
- I am pretty sure that anyone who has followed my videos for a while, or my blog, will be so sick of me mentioning this Mascara, but honestly, it is the BEST drugstore Mascara I have used. It curls, lengthens, and thickens my lashes all in one (which I suppose that's why it's called One by One)… I don't feel the need to ever curl my lashes when I use this. I also like the colour, because it isn't too in your face - still a nice subtle way of glamming up your eyes, with a wearable daytime look.

Chanel Long Lasting Eyeliner in Espresso
- This eyeliner is so smooth, it just glides on really well. The eyeliner doesn't last as long as it claims, but it does't irritate my eyes, and using a brownish colour doesn't make my eyes look harsh like black liner. Besides, it brings a subtle warmth to an everyday eye makeup look!

YSL Bronzing Powder in Terre Saharienne
- My all time favourite Bronzer, this has SPF 10 for extra protection against harsh elements, and hash't got that powdery consistency you find with some bronzers. It has an almost silky consistency, so it stays put almost all day.

NARS Blush in Sin
- I love this colour, because it's almost a Berry kind of colour - perfect for me to wear during Autumn/Winter. I find it complements that glowing/dewy look, and because I apply just a tiny bit on the apples of my cheek, I don't find this to clash at all with warmth of the foundation, illuminator, and bronzer. I sometimes skip on the blush, it just depends on my mood.

NYX Black Label Lipstick in Diva
- I love the Black Label lippies from NYX, as they've got a nice creamy consistency, and glides over the lips really smoothly. This colour is almost a sheer berry colour, and doesn't make any bold statement, making you still look put together, without looking like you're trying. It looks really natural, and a great colour for an everyday makeup look.

Napoleon Perdis Luminous Lip Veil in Sugar Plum
- I like adding this over the top of my lipstick, because it's a sheer gloss, and adds a layer of colour that can brighten, or tone down any lip colour you apply underneath it. It's not overly sticky (which I don't like in a lip gloss), but has a nice shine that is noticeable, yet subtle.

Kryolan Skin Refreshing Spray
- This is actually a perfect completion to my makeup routine. I have found a slight difference in the wearability of my makeup during the day when I spray on this mist. It doesn't feel sticky, and it dries pretty quickly (maybe after 10 seconds).

So I hope this has helped those who have asked me to do a video on my makeup and foundation routine, and/or those who have dry to normal skin. If you have a similar skin type to mine, I would love to know what your routine is like, or products you would recommend for dry skin!

Til next time, take care!

Cheers xox
