Review: Skin79 Chiffon BB Mousse + Makeup from the Kick It Side Range

Hello, beauty lovers! Today I have a review on one of my favourite Asian Cosmetic lines called Skin79. I was kindly sent a few products from mybbcream.com.au to review for you guys, which includes their Chiffon BB Mousse, and 3 makeup products from the new line called "Kick It Side" which includes their Mascara, Lip Tint, & their Liquid Liner. As always, my opinions are 100% honest, and I am not being compensated for this review.

Chiffon BB Mousse

This BB Mousse comes in a 50g can, with a plastic lid covering a pump dispenser. I find pumps to be so convenient on makeup products, because it not only controls the desired amount of product you wish to dispense, but it also minimises wastage. The bottle itself is imprinted with a feminine design of florals and hearts, which is very appealing on the eye, and draws your attention to the product. I quite like it, as it stands out! Unfortunately, it's not transparent, so you can't see how much product you have left to use, but it's not really a hindrance to the overall design.

The formula of the product itself is made with a  mouse type of consistency, that's fluffy and lightweight. The creamy and foamy texture is designed to cover up blemishes, and even out skin tone (as most BB Creams claim to do) with a natural finish. It has SPF 15 so it acts as a barrier to sun damage, and I usually opt for makeup that has some kind of SPF factor in there (we don't want to be exposed to harmful UV rays!). This also claims to have "Glacial Water and Coral Water cools and calms down skin that has been damaged or irritated by harmful environmental factors. Mistletoe extract and Swiss Alpine Herb maintains the water balance to create healthy and moist skin."

Because of the mousse like texture, the best way I have found to apply it is to first shake the can, and then squeeze a small amount on the back of your hand, take a stippling brush and pat it on your face to blend it in, before buffing it out. Using a brush as opposed to your fingers, allows for more of a flawless finish. You can also use a sponge applicator (like the beauty blender) to dab it on, and still will give you a flawless finish. To set it all, I use a sheer pressed powder or an illuminating powder, and this helps prolong the wear of the BB mousse.

What I have found is that it's so lightweight that it doesn't feel like you're wearing any makeup. It also gives you a semi dewy finish, so if you want a more matte look, setting your face with powder is recommended. I personally love the dewy look, as it gives my complexion a nice youthful glow.

Coverage is semi sheer, so yes, it doesn't entirely cover your flaws, but then most BB creams don't. If you want more coverage, use this as a makeup base before applying foundation over the top. Your skin will glowing and healthy, as this radiates through the foundation - at least that's what I have found on days I want that little bit of extra coverage.

Now according to the mybbcream website, this product is suitable for Dry Skin, which is perfect for me since I have dry to normal skin. Because it leaves a dewy, natural finish, I find this to be a little moisturising too. If you have an oily skin type, you might want to make sure to use a setting powder to neutralize the dewyness.

Left: My natural skin tone, without the BB Mousse. Right: With the BB Mousse. As you can tell, the coverage is natural and sheer, and covers the redness as well as even out my skin tone.

Now if you are looking to get your hands on this, the only thing I will say is that this is only available in one colour/shade which is a natural colour.  It also retails for $33.60, currently on offer for $28.60 Australian Dollars. You can purchase this directly from mybbcream.com.au. At this time, shipping is only available to Australian residents.

Overall, this has become a staple in my everyday makeup routine, and surprised at how natural it looks, but also adding that nice healthy glow. When friends start complementing you on how you don't look like your wearing makeup with this on, you know you have a good thing going! Would I purchase this? For sure! This has become one of my favourite BB creams in the Asian market, so will be adding some backups of this to my makeup stash :D

Kick It Side: Monster Liner in Deep Black

IMG_2283

This is a liquid liner pen, that is very similar to the Maybelline Precise Liquid Liner Pen. Only major difference is that the pigmentation is a lot more prominent with this liner, since it contains a carbon black formula. Because of that, removing this baby is no mean feat, let me tell you! It also stays put for a good 6-8hrs before you start noticing some fading, and only requires one touch up (in my experience).

I love the precision you get with this, since it's much easier to control with it packaged in a pen type format, and the applicator tip is pointed and thin, so allows for precision and placement to draw your liner. It also dries relatively quickly, but leaves a window of time to clean up any mistakes you might make without messing up your liner.

IMG_2285

Only thing I found was that the formula was a little wet, so even though it dries reasonably quickly, it also can smudge if you do happen to accidentally swipe your finger over it. To avoid that from happening, just set the liner by going over it with an angled brush, and a black eyeshadow. That should help promote a longer lasting liner!

eyeliner

Now this is only available in the colour "Deep Black", and retails for $16.80 AU usually, but is now $14.80 AU. You can purchase this directly from mybbcream.com.au. At this time, shipping is only available to Australian residents.

Apart from slight smearing if you don't allow the liner to dry in reasonable time frame, I have found this to be my go to liner, since it is so pigmented, and gives you such sharp precision and easy control for drawing a winged line, or even applying it on your lower lash line. A product that is relatively affordable, and lasts for a good amount time? Definitely worth purchasing!

Kick It Side: Poisedon Lash Proof Mascara in Black

IMG_2291

This mascara comes packaged in a 9g plastic tube, and is only available in the colour black. The applicator has a spiral design, which is suitable for short and droopy lashes - suitable for mine! Skin79 claims the spiral applicator allows you to not only separate your lashes, but also thicken them. I found this to add a bit of length, curl and helped separate my lashes, but in terms of thickening? I think with a generous amount of coats, you may achieve that result. On my lashes, they didn't really thicken them.

IMG_2295

How I apply this is by placing the applicator under the lashes and wriggling the brush as I sweep it through my lashes, sort of like a zig-zag motion. This gives you much thicker lashes, than if you were to sweep it straight through. Also, since the applicator has a spiral shape, it's easy to use on the outer lashes, as well as the lower lashes, without poking your eye accidentally or smudging it. This is not a waterproof formula, so it's quite easy to remove, however the formula is wet so it is advisable to wait a little bit for the mascara to dry to avoid any smearing. Now I do find I have to apply a generous amount to get my desired look, but I do that with most mascaras in any case.

Left: My natural lashes. Right: With two coats of the Mascara. It provides length, and a slight curl, and separates my lashes without clumping.

Now this retails for $11.20 AU normally, currently $9.50 AU. You can purchase this directly from mybbcream.com.au. At this time, shipping is only available to Australian residents.

Overall, another win in my eyes for a Skin79 makeup product. This mascara is a wonderful addition to my mascara range, and I will be purchasing this when I need a backup.

Kick It Side: Look For Me Tint in Attention

IMG_2299

This is a lip gloss and lip tint combined in one, that comes packaged in a 22g tube (3g capacity), with the polka dot design that identifies the "Kick It Side" range. It's a glossy tint, that provides moisture and colour on the lips. It comes in two colours - "Cheer Up" and "Attention". The one I got was in the colour "Attention, which is an orange/coral coloured lip tint.

IMG_2953

The applicator is a firm brush applicator that has a fine, slightly rounded tip that allows you to apply the gloss with precision and control. The way that I apply it is patting on the colour bit by bit to control the opacity, and rubbing my lips together to even out the product.

IMG_2951

On my lips, the colour doesn't look orange, but actually looks slightly pink. I attribute this to the fact my lips have some colour pigmentation present, therefore not really doing the orange colour too much justice.

IMG_2952

Now the lasting power of this lip gloss/tint is quite impressive to me. I wore this for a maximum of 4 hours before it started to fade slightly. Even when the gloss eventually starts to fade, my lips still had a slight tint of colour... a little more coral than the initial pink it gave my lips. The gloss isn't sticky either; it's a smooth, light gloss with a bit of shine, and doesn't feel too heavy on the lips.

So, this retails for $11.20 originally, currently $9.50. You can purchase this directly from mybbcream.com.au. At this time, shipping is only available to Australian residents.

Overall, this lip gloss/tint is a lip product that offered more than what I expected - not too glossy, nor sticky, and lasted a good amount of time on my lips. I wouldn't purchase this however, as there is a limited colour range available, and I didn't find this colour very suitable for me. For now, I will be able to make this colour work by mixing it with a darker colour, and create my own colour palette!

So that concludes my review on the Skin79 makeup range! Hope this was helpful for any of you who may be interested in picking up some Skin79 makeup products. I know I will certainly be trying out more from their "Kick It Side" line :)

Cheers xxx
