Furless Mini Bamboo Travel Makeup Brush Set Review

IMG_0236

Hello, lovely peeps of the blogosphere! Today i'm coming at ya with a review on the Furless Mini Bamboo Makeup Brush Set. I was generously provided this set from Furless to review, however it doesn't influence the opinions and thoughts I have on this brush set in any way. So, let's get to it!

Basically, I will be giving you an overview of who Furless are, what the brush set looks like and what it comes with, the packaging, cost, and whether I would recommend them. So if you're interested in my thoughts, keep on reading!

A while back, I shared a blog post on some brushes I purchased from them. In that post, I explained a bit about my first impressions on the brushes I purchased, so you will have already gathered what I already think about their brushes. This is why I wanted to try a different set, to see if they match up in quality to the ones I purchased previously.

Anyhow, who are Furless? They are an Australian company that produces high quality, cruelty free brushes and cosmetics at affordable prices. Their brushes in particular are made out of synthetic bristles as opposed to animal hair, and all their products are 100% vegan and Halal friendly!

Now about the brushes. The Mini Bamboo Travel Makeup Brush Set comes with a set of 7 brushes, nicely housed in a black washable nylon brush roll. Clasping it nicely is a buckled closure, and a top flap to cover the brushes. Two pockets are lined within the brush roll - one large one for the two face brushes, and one smaller one for the eye brushes. As the name suggest, it is ideal for travelling as it is so small and compact, that you can just pop it in your handbag whilst on the go, your makeup bag for regular use, or in your luggage without taking up too much space whilst travelling. For that reason, a nice addition is a zippable flap that doubles as an extra storage space for any bits and pieces you would like to take with you if you are travelling with it. Bonus!

Now onto each individual brush...

Face

Powder Brush

The rounded shape makes it the perfect density to apply any kind of powder, as just enough product adheres to the bristles, making it effortless to transfer the product to your face. I prefer to use this with pressed powder, as I find the brush works much better with that consistency. I also use this for bronzer, since the brush is firm enough to contour with precision. 2 in 1, what a steal!

Blush Brush

This is slightly flat, and rounded in shape (if that makes any sense) and is great for applying blush or bronzer for that matter, since it's quite dense. Since it is so soft, yet firm, I have also tried this with liquid and cream foundation, and the results have turned out surprisingly well. A blush brush that's multipurpose; good value for money right there!

Eyes

Large eyeshadow Brush

I would describe it as a flat shader brush with a slightly rounded tip that is the perfect size for your eyelid. The texture of the bristles are soft and silky, and firm enough for the shadows to adhere to, although I find this works better with shimmery eyeshadows as it seems to grab onto them a little easier.

Smaller eyeshadow Brush

I at first used this for concealer as this is a replica of the larger eyeshadow brush, but smaller obviously, and was dense enough for use with liquid and cream products. After a while, I realised it was actually an eyeshadow brush, and found it particularly useful for the outer corners of the eyes since it's small enough to control and be precise with the application.

Crease Brush

This is my favourite out of the seven! I found this to have many purposes. It's so soft, yet so firm and dense that when you are using it on the crease, it is perfect for precision! You can also use it to highlight the brow bone, and inner corners. You can use it as an eyeshadow applicator as well, and if that's not enough, I found it useful as a lip brush, too! Best multipurpose brush of the lot ;)

Angled Liner

The bristles are so soft, and is the perfect density to use for your top lash line, or to fill in your brows! When using it for the top lash line, I found it suited better with my Gel and Cream liner, as opposed to a powder (say, eyeshadow), due to the bristles being a little too soft to make a precise application. But that could just be me and how I hold it, so definitely something that you would need to test for yourself. As for filling in the brows, there's no issue as it's the perfect size and density to brush on the colour, and funnily enough, I found it works well with powder for this type of usage!

Lash/Brow Groomer

I love how soft the bristles are, making it easy to brush your brow hairs into place without any harshness or scratching. And you can also use it to comb through your lashes in preparation for mascara application, and I find it really helps separate my lashes nicely.

Overall thoughts? The brushes are very durable, and I have yet to experience any shedding, especially after many washes. The compact size of the brushes and the brush roll makes it the ideal companion for travelling, however I have found that they can be incorporated into your everyday makeup kit.

So what's the cost? These are currently retailing for $22.45 (10% off). For brushes I find to be superb quality, there isn't anything I didn't like about the brushes, or the packaging.

Would I recommend these? Absolutely! As a travel companion, these serve its purpose due to its convenient size and flexibility for day to day use, as well as travelling. If you are wanting to test the waters with synthetic brushes, I highly recommend you try these out! And you can't go wrong with the price point :)
