Don't Worry, Be Happy.

It's easier said than done, right? I mean, what does it actually mean when we say "Don't Worry, Be Happy"? I couldn't count the amount of times I have heard these words - whether it's in song, or a sentence. One thing I didn't know was that this is a quote from an Indian Mystic and Spiritual Master by the name of Meher Baba. His approach to life was more or less based on that ideal, and so I embark on a topic to help you embrace this ideology, too.

Lately i've been feeling a little out of alignment with myself and my truth, and I know it's been a similar experience with those around me too. It's as if the universe right now is testing us; challenging our beliefs and calling us into balance. It's a universal shift that we are all experiencing right now, whether we realise that or not. The key though, is to remain positive, optimistic, and true to who we are.

You see, I am someone who used to worry, a lot. Worrying about the future. Worrying about "what if?", but the thing I have come to realise over time is that, worrying is a waste of energy. Worrying is such a negative entity to lend your time to, so why would you direct all your energy into something negative, when you can feel abundance by directing your energy towards optimism and positivity? I am not perfect, come on, I am human and worrying is a normal emotion to trigger, mostly backed by Fear. It's not a feeling we can just "get over", however with time and trust, it gets easier. :)

But how do we worry less when we have obstacles like Fear, Negativity and Self Doubt that plague our path to "happiness"? Well, first of all, let's understand that "being happy" has multiple meanings for everyone. We also need to understand why it is that these obstacles get in our way. They don't magically appear, they are manifested through our thought process. If you have a tendency to think negatively towards a situation, then that is what you will draw towards you. Likewise, if you have the ability to think "happy" thoughts, then you will be rewarded as so.

"Your life is your dream. This world is made up of the same stuff of which those dreams are made." This was said by a beautiful soul by the name of Sudevi. And it has resonated with me ever since I heard these words. It's the absolute truth - our life is our dream, and we are the directors of it. We have a say in how we live it! So I want to share with you some things that help me remain positive and happy, even when it feels like at times, you're veering off in the wrong direction (whether it's by choice, or not), and worrying less and less over things that I cannot control. I hope some of these elements I have adopted, will serve you into your journey into alignment.

Love & believe in yourself.

Well, and truly. If you don't love who you are, and have faith in your own abilities to achieve great things, then who else will? It starts with you, so do it! Appreciate and love yourself, embrace every ounce of you and do you! Be selfish and think about you. Look after yourself. Believe me, you will radiate like the stars above, and the world will be your oyster. Please believe this.

Surround yourself with positive people who believe in you, just as much as you believe in yourself.

Honestly, if you have someone in your life who exudes nothing but negativity, either about you or themselves, then you don't need that in your life! You really don't. Ask yourself how they're affecting you. What purpose do they serve in your life? What is that doing to your morale? It may be easier said than done, but the more you come to an understanding of who you are and what you want, you will slowly begin distancing yourself from that negativity without realising it, and you will notice how much lighter the energy around you is. In order to fill your soul with good vibes, you need to consider the people around you too :)

Smile and the universe will smile with you.

It's true, you know. Look at what's around you! Look at the simplest of things and appreciate it. Take a walk and look at your surroundings. Lie in the grass and stare at the sky. Smile and marvel at the wonder before you. Smiling will change your outlook, and it's good for your soul! Smile at a stranger, because you never know if that smile made their day. You will become humble at the infinite beauty that surrounds you, but you won't know it unless you slow down, smell the roses and smile. It will fill you with joy, and abundance. So go ahead and smile like you mean it :)

Find what you love, and do it with passion.

Immerse yourself in something you love. Whether it's art, music, travelling, teaching, or makeup ;) do what makes you happy. If you're finding it a challenge, think about what's stopping you from doing what you're passionate about, and look at what steps you can take to change that. Dream it, and you can do it!

Be thankful for what you have.

No matter what's going on in your world, it's important to think about what you have and be thankful for it. Do it as often as you can. Why? Well, tell me why not? There will be times where you feel like you've been kicked in the guts, and the universe has slapped you in the face. But you know what? Remember what you have that's good. What drives you to be the best you? What makes you get up time and time again? Love and appreciate all you have, and I promise you, your outlook will change for the better, and your purpose will become clearer.

All of these points have come full circle for me. In order for me to worry less and less about things out of my control, I constantly surround myself with things that make me feel good; that radiate positivity and goodness. Being conscious of what's around me, and staying focused on my goals and what I can look forward to, really helps me stay aligned with where I want to be. If things don't go the way you want, stop and think about why it's happening, and look at it from a different angle. I am a believer in "everything that happens for a reason", and that's how I have gotten through even the toughest of times. Learning to worry less and less will allow you to go with the flow, and be in the moment. And you know what? You will gain clarity of the bigger picture, and you will feel and see the difference, believe me!

You know, if there was a source code on how to be happy, we would be deciphering that shiz like no tomorrow, yeah? But unfortunately that's not the way it goes. I hope that this has inspired you to awaken to the realisation that you are what you believe to be. Honestly. Don't worry, just be happy.
